TWC On Roku

Here in the 47804 area I get one channel only, and that's Cspan.

I thought it was a matter of waiting for the channels to populate, but after waiting until the next day things hadn't changed.

What's up with that?

Roku - Cable Box - Cable Card - DTA - Digital Adapter

Terrible company to deal with. In the past, I have called and they disconnected the call every time I advised that I was calling to down grade my services.

TWC (Time Warner Cable) sold a package to supply cable and internet services to our apartment. Those services are now part of our rental payment. As part of the package, Showtime is free for the next 5 years. I do not need a cable card if TWC activates Showtime for us as we have the Roku 3 which by passes the need for a cable card or cable box. TWC states they still need to charge as most customers would need the cable card. This makes no sense. They also advised me when they go all digital we would need a digital adapter (DTA) for an additional $1.50 a month, a fee we would need to pay to TWC in addition to paying for cable and internet directly to our landlord. We do not need a DTA either as a roku by passes the need. TWC has an app/channel to add to Roku and Showtime has their own channel as well.

Time Warner Cable is trying to charge for additional equipment which we do NOT need in order to create additional charges/pad the bill.

They and Verizon should join forces to become the one of the most despised companies in the world…….

Check out the Roku 3 to possibly ditch the TWC box. Here is CNET’s link to their article:

http://www.cnet.com/news/twc-tv-app-turns-roku-into-a-cable-box-for-time-warner-customers-hands-on/

When going to add on the channel in Roku you currently see the follow “Standard TV and TWC authorized modem required” (I own my own modem and router). “May require additional fees”.

Note this is subject to change but worth looking into. Power to the people! Also somethings may have changed with the app since the article was written. The program guide is great and the streaming I would rate as 4.5 stars out of 5.

Okay everyone. I do not know when it will be out of date, but here is the TWC Executives and assorted upper people:

Also:

 We have:

  • Starter TV
  • Standard TV

We were upgraded to the Preferred Digital Video Services Level

**Try the Roku and then add the TWC App as a channel.**

Roku 3, TWC TV App, Different ISP

Hi, I'm not able to login to the Roku TWC TV App.

I got this lovely error message today:

"The program you have requested is only available when you are accessing this video service in your home, using a cable modem authorized by Time Warner Cable"

I do not have Roadrunner, I have a different ISP. I understand authentication is done via Roadrunnner's cable modem. Are there any work-arounds for third party ISPs? I've read the forums here and saw a few threads talking about a "TWC TV Gateway" but it seems to be nonsense.

I've been trying the TWC Live Chat Tech Support, but I keep getting redirected to a new Tech Support agent. They all seem confused, as if I've asked a strange question.

Have spent well over 2 hours total trying to get problem solved--on hold and shuffled around.     Roku does not recognize my purchased modem, which was installed at time of installation.     One message on here says have to use TWC modem, another message by a TWC tech says can use your own.      I have correct login and pw and then can get no further on TWC app on Roku.     Last online tech dropped my chat and then I was  asked to complete a survey re my experience--I can hardly wait to get back to sattilite service when I move--hopefully in the next 6 months.    My experience with TWC sucks.     Tech did verify that had correct modem numbers on my account.

Poor video output

I have two Roku 2 XS units connected to TVs. At present I also have TWC 20M internet. Virtually every Roku channel I stream has excellent video output. Connection to both is wireless.

When using the TWC app for live video everything streams with only SD video quality, if even that. HD channels have been selected. The TWC on demand channels of the application come in fine and in high def.

The bandwidth to one Roku is full 20M, it is close to my router, while the other is further away and gets about 8-10 M. based on speed test with both my laptop and Android tablet.

When I use the TWC app on my tablet the picture quality is excellent and in HD at both locations.

I would like to eliminate one of my cable boxes and use the Roku in its place. With such poor quality output however this is not practical.

For good video of live streams do I need a faster connection? I am moving upto 50 M soon.

Is the vid output from the Roku app just SD and SD only for live channels?

This is not the case on my Android tablet.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Full screen on every channel but PBS

I connected my Roku player to my RCA 19" CRT television the other day, just to see how well it works. (I plan to use this TV with the Roku when my flat panel set quits.) The box works very well with the 4:3 RCA TV, on every channel except the PBS affiliate.  I get a full-screen picture on most stations using the 4:3 aspect ratio setting (settings->display type), but I get pillars on either side of the picture on the PBS channel, regardless of which setting I use (4:3 standard or 16:9 widescreen; I've tried both). Is this simply a quirk of how the PBS channel streams its video signal? The other stations produce full-screen video through the Roku player, so I suspect the problem is in fact the manner the PBS station is being streamed. The picture on that station is full-screen on my flat panel TV.  Does PBS use a different method of streaming, incompatible with streaming players such as Roku, than the commercial networks? That is the only reason I can see for being unable to zoom the picture on my CRT set to full screen, on that station and only that station.

Thanks much for any and all replies.

App missing channels! Help me!

My issue has been going on for 3 weeks. I am a new cable subscriber subscribed to the very basic cable service. The "Starter". I originally had two cable boxes on the account. Before my boxes even arrived, the TWC app worked beautifully on all of my devices. So I sent the boxes back. Why rent boxes when I can use the app without them? Now I still have the app but it only has 7 channels on it no matter what platform I'm using. I have been speaking with people at Time Warner, like I said, for 3 weeks about this issue. Last week they decided I DID need a box on the account and someone came out and installed one. No change. I still only have the same seven channels on the app. I have no idea what to do next. No one at Time Warner seems to know anything about this issue. Has anyone had a similar issue? Can anyone give me any ideas? I need help!! The last time I spoke to someone at Time Warner, they were saying maybe I need an upgraded box and they would probably have to send someone out to install a new, upgraded box. None of it makes any sense to me... Please can someone help? Out of the seven channels I receive on the app, none of them are local channels. I have the c-span channels and the shopping channels and that's about it.

Seems like outage with the roku app?

TWC Roku app limited to VOD only.

I installed a new Roku 3 yesterday and set up the TWC TV app and everything seemed to be working perfectly.

This morning I went back into the TWC TV app and it came up into the Video On Demand portion of the app, which works great, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get back to live TV.

I don't know if there's something simple I need to do to switch back to live TV, or if the app has simply lost all the channels and therefore I only get VOD.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

(I've tried resetting the Roku, logging out and logging back in, and reinstalling the TWC app...)

Channels unavailable

The Roku TWC TV app is not working in zip 44077 (Painesville, Ohio area). Error message "Feature Unavailable. The account holder has either blocked access to this feature or does not subscribe to an eligible video package" appears when I try to use the app. Immediately prior to this I was seeing "Service Unavailable" messages on several channels. Tried restarting Roku using the System Restart option in the Settings menu; no luck. I also tried resetting the Roku player by disconnecting the power cube, then reconnecting; still nothing.  I have Time Warner Standard TV service.

     Thanks much.

TWC ROKU error P707 Wilmington NC

Error started 6/25/15 around 10pm. P707. On demand works? Other apps works too, like Netflix. Problem started soon after installing TCL app and TWC on my iPhone. I removed them both from my phone. TCL app to control the TV didn't work anyway - TWC app did work to schedule Tosh.O series on the DVR. I also fully rebooted all devices in my house. Everything. DVR, cable router, TV, iPhone etc.

With the TWC App on the Roku there doesn't seem to be a way to navigate up/down sequentially through channels like you would expect on a TV. The functionality is available in the TWC App on Samsung Smart TVs but if it's available on the Roku I can't figure it out and I've mashed every button on the remote trying to figure it out. It seems that the only way to change channels on the Roku is from the channel list which is very slow and inefficient for channel surfing.

Please add channel up/down feature.

Another critically missing feature is the "previous channel" functionality to navigate back to the previously tuned channel. I use this function all the time on a regular TV and miss it greatly when using the TWC app.

Please add "previous channel" feature.

Finally, another sorely missed feature is the ability to direct tune to a channel. Using the channel guide can be terribly slow at times and moving through the list, especially since paging through the list doesn't seem possible, is terribly inefficient. Even bringing up a virtual keyboard to input a channel number would be much faster at times I think if you know exactly what channel you want to go to.

Please add direct channel tuning feature.

Finally, pleae add Program Guide feature.

Thanks,

Scott

My TWC TV app is missing superstation WTBS channel 17 from Atlanta. Are there any plans to add this channel to the app any time soon? I don't watch the station that often, but I think it's unfair to have WTNT (Mr. Turner's other channel) on the app and not WTBS. Is there some reason the app is not carrying WTBS?

  Thanks.

Channel numbers on Roku program guide

$

I am wondering why the video streams for the channels on the TWC TV app are numbered 2, 3, 4 ... instead of with the stations' actual channel numbers. In my area, the network stations are on channels 3, 5, 8, 19 and 25, but on the program guide I see 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10, respectively. Is the TWC TV app still streaming analog channels?

Missing channels on Roku 3

I have the starter tv service with HBO and STARZ along with a cable card setup with hdhomerun prime. I have 2 roku 3 and an xbox in different rooms of the house. A week ago I turned in my cable set top box to save some money and now I'm missing cnn and tnt on that twc app. When I try to view the channels on my pc in says subscription required even though I can watch those channel on my pc or xbox using windows media center just fine. I can even run the cable directly into my and tune into those channels with no problem. TWC say I can't view the channels on the twc tv app because I need a set top box. Why do I need a set top box for just those 2 channels? Isn't there something that tells that twc app what channels I am allowed to watch. Why is it that I can watch all the other channels that i am paying for with no problem and something as simple as cnn and tnt there is a problem.
